Plant the seeds, pray for rain, bring in the harvest, winnow the grain from the chaff.
It's been years since I've used wheat in my designs and it has returned at the end of our growing season! This design is so dear to my heart, I am, after all, the grand daughter and great granddaughter of Saskatchewan wheat farmers. I'm built of dirt, sunshine and prayers for rain. Now that I have a small, working farm of my own I have such an appreciation for how hard my ancestors and relatives worked and such a joy for living a life so deeply connected.
This necklace design features two long wheat heads (picked from my garden, actually, where we had a lot of volunteer wheat sprout up out of our straw mulch this year) that hug cuts of dendritic opal and turquoise, respectively. ALL STERLING SILVER with the exception of a brass accent at the bail and bronze accent at the clasp.
Chain length: About 29 inches with a heavy clasp.
Pendant length: About 3 inches.
