I'm into bears! I love to see them. They remind me that there's something powerful and wild at large in this bizarre and chaotic world humans have created.
This necklace was loosely inspired by a bear claw necklace a Chippewyan woman made for my sister when my family was stationed up in Fort Chippewyan, Canada. It wasn't a work of art by any means. The woman simply drilled some bear claws and strung them intermittently with red wooden beads on fishing line, but there was something magical about that necklace. It captivated me and I have coveted it all these years.
Here's my take on that old bear claw necklace featuring one of my growly little sow charms that I've flanked with ten sterling hawk talons. The effect is pretty wild looking and surprisingly elegant. Chunky lapis lazuli beads give this piece extra presence.
May she help keep you wild and free and remind you that you don't HAVE to share the berry patch if you don't want to.
