Originally sketched up in late July when I spent many evenings laying in the horse pasture watching the nighthawks feeding in the twilight, fifty to one hundred at a time. The horses swished their tails and bit the sweet young grass at the roots. The cats rubbed their cheeks on all my suntanned limbs. The dogs lay down beside me, like all good dogs do. There's nothing like watching the glorious disorder of nighthawks in the gloaming. I wait for them all summer long.
