Simply inspired by the bison herds in Custer State Park, which we perused on the way home from South Dakota this spring and I took great delight in photographing.
The bison was one of my original wildlife motifs earlier in my silversmithing career. I was born in Wood Buffalo National Park in the hinterlands of Canada and have always held this animal close. These earrings feature a silhouette of the bison in overlaid sterling, bright cuts of American turquoise and a flutter of jingles -- all my usual textures have been employed resulting in jewelry that has an old soul despite being newly crafted. Lots of intricate tender love and care goes into this design as well as deeply rooted inspiration that is true to my life.
Length: 3 inches with hand formed and forged french earwires.
