August Collection

This little batch of baubles has a lot of different ideas in it.
Everything feels different but harmonious, which is always a small sort of proof to me that my designs are coming from my own life and mind.

I've been thinking lately about all the little rules the art world likes to make for artists (while simultaneously shouting that there are no rules).
Know how I like to approach the dichotomy of the art world
when it comes to laws and lawlessness?
I simply don't!
I ignore it all. I focus on the life that is right in front of me.

I take long rides on my horses. I swim in a spring creek. I weed my garden. I kiss my little girl. I hug Robert. I read books. I sit down to make things, and I do whatever I want.

I don't care if a collection is
cohesive or not. I draw on new ideas and old ideas, new experiences and old experiences, the landscape I live in, the life I am carving out of the canyon wall of the Snake River. I wrap my arms around everything and let it breathe into me, and I don't worry about what comes out of my head and my hands. It's all just a giant experiment, so I do whatever I want, and I like the outcome or I don't.

As it happens, I like everything in this collection,
so I'm calling it a good batch of work and an experiment gone right.
