Daughter Necklace -- Carved Emerald and Mother of Pearl
So often my designs are born up out of my own wanting for a meaningful piece of jewelry. The Daughter Necklace is another one of those pieces. I have been wanting to make myself a necklace that I can wear in the name of my daughter, Matilda, and then hand down to her when she is old enough to tend to a treasured piece. This is the first design I came up with and it turned out so nicely I made a batch of 5 of these necklaces (I'm offering only 2 of the necklaces in my shop today).
The pendant features a cut of emerald that has a flower carved on its face. This stone sits atop a heavy chunk of milled silver (a little thicker than 10ga) around the edges of which I have strung mother of pearl beads in a curving embrace that is filled with soft edges. The resulting feel of this design is extremely tender and feminine and heirloom. So special. A little love letter from a mum to her little girl.
Chain length: About 20 inches with my s-clasp.
