I ride my horses to the Post Office in town from time to time and while riding this summer, I saw a red-tailed hawk flying with a snake in her fist. Some kind of omen. or just a hawk flying with her meal in her talons. Either way, when I reached home I hopped in my studio and made a few sterling silver hawks -- sawed, overlaid with deep texture, carved and shaped until the details pop.
She's paired with a slice of dendritic agate and my sagebrush sprigs. This is such a lovely narrative piece that speaks of wild open spaces and the steppe country I call home.
All sterling silver with a bronze accent at the clasp. My love is in the details.
Length: About 19 inches in length with my s-clasp.
