There's a trail system I love to ride my horses on in the summertime up in the Sun Valley area of Idaho, a quick haul from our farm.  Up in the timber there are sections of trail where a spring creek snakes back and forth, in and out of tree filtered sunshine.  On the trail where the spring water pools, clouds of "Spring Azure" butterflies puddle in the hundreds and thousands, flitting and flirting with summer.  As we pass through the butterflies rise up around us in a cloud of wings and blessings and beauty and we go up the trail like that for miles, my horse and I, until we reach the spring source and the trail drys out and touches the sky.

I look forward to communing with those butterflies each time I haul a horse to the trailhead.  Here's my little homage to the delicate winged beauty my horses and I find as we work our way up those lonesome trails into higher country.
